Ask it like this

Plain questions about your own tree.

  • Who are my oldest ancestors?

It follows every line back and names the earliest people.

  • How am I related to this person?

It finds the shared ancestor and names the relationship.

  • Which dates don’t add up?

It checks for impossible dates, such as a birth after a death.

Example answer to the last question, from a fictional family
Anna Rossi is recorded as born in 1851, but her mother Teresa died in 1849. One of the two dates is probably wrong.

Questions

What is a GEDCOM file?
It is the standard file for a family tree. Ancestry, MyHeritage, Geni, Gramps and most other sites and programs can export one. It ends in .ged, .gedcom or .zip.
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?
Genealogy Researcher is free. Claude and ChatGPT decide which of their plans can add connectors, so check your plan if you do not see the option.
Is my tree private?
Yes. A tree is private to you and to the projects you add it to. You can export or delete everything at any time.
What about FamilySearch?
FamilySearch is off until it approves AI use of its data. Genealogy Researcher fetches nothing from it.
